Musician and activist Wanlov the Kubolor has criticised the act of passing the anti-LGBT bill, questioning the priorities of a country he says is battling far more urgent crises.
In a series of posts on X on May 31, 2026, that have since gone viral, the outspoken entertainer pointed out a series of pressing issues which should be addressed in the country.
"Ghana diɛ we fool oh. Poor hospitals. Dangerous roads. Poisoned rivers. Corruption. Woman abuse. Child abuse,” he posted.
He further alleged that the bill is an ‘expired law’ inherited from Western legal traditions which have now been abandoned in their countries of origin.
“U make white people give you their expired laws against your fellow beings while u proclaim consensual love is not African,” he posted.

He further alleged that political and financial incentives are driving the legislation, stating the passage was because of ‘coins and position’
The bill, which has been widely condemned by international human rights organisations since its passage, has divided opinions both within Ghana and across the diaspora.
While supporters argue it reflects Ghanaian cultural and religious values, critics contend it criminalises identity and will deepen harm against an already vulnerable community.
