It is unacceptable for a Ghanaian company solely owned by a Ghanaian and operating in the country to pay workers in a foreign currency when our legal tender is the cedis . This is a bad precedent. Are we ashamed of our unit of currency? What if all businesses in Ghana start demanding payment in the dollar or pound or euro . Will that be acceptable to the government? Some landlords and hotels are demanding payment in dollars and this is against the laws of Ghana . If the government does not stop this practice, our country will sink into oblivion. Where are our leaders ? This does not happen in any other country even in the least developed countries. The fact that this practice is accepted in the country means we are not independent or our independence is meaningless if we have to accept a foreign currency as our legal tender. Shame on our leaders
