  Appietus is absolutely right. Gone are the days when almost every piece of music used to carry message (tell a story). Some years back there was an article in a newspaper here in the UK saying something similar. The article mentioned some songs that do not (or did not) make sense entirely and yet were big hits - like MJ's 'earth song' in one of the lines where he says "what about the elephant", "what about us"? Or The Killers' 'Human'; in a line where they ask: "are we human or are we dancer"?. Or Snap's 'Rithym is a dancer'. All these lines in all the three songs don't make any real sense but all the three songs are big hits. The current trend of music is all about how a song goes smoothly with the rithym and the dancing.
