Founder and leader of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has cautioned Ghanaians not to make the celebration of our 60th anniversary a battlefield of unnecessary debates centering on giving credit to individuals who fought for our independence.

President of the republic, Nana Akufo- Addo made enemies and friends for himself after reading and narrating in chronological order, events that led to Ghana’s independence.

It is on this note that Dr. Nduom warned that Ghanaians shouldn’t be fixated on issues which wouldn't enhance our welfare.

“President Akufo-Addo read his view on what led to Ghana’s independence and it led to dispute and people are talking about who should be given credit and who is the founder. Look at the condition of life of Ghanaians and you don’t get it. We should have matured at this age”, he observed.

Dr. Papa Kwesi noted that rather than taking pleasure in this fruitless exercise, Ghanaians should focus on working towards resolutions which would improve our economic conditions.

The PPP stalwart who is also the host ATV’s current affair show dubbed ‘Ghana Great and Strong’ declared that for Ghana to attain 60 years, “means that we should be self-independent and at the peak of productivity.”

He explained that at this age, the nation shouldn’t struggle with providing quality education for children of school going age.

“At 60, you must have achieved a certain level of responsibility in life. You must be self-independent and had money somewhere so you can enjoy the fruit of your labour”, he said.
