The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, in his address at his campaign launch in Tamale, made a surprising quote by a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In his address, Mahama quoted MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, describing him as a friend.
"A member of the New Patriotic Party, a friend and a former colleague MP, said, ‘It's not Ghana that needs change, it's change that needs Ghana.’ And that is Honourable Kennedy Agyapong."
Mahama highlighted that more than 80% of Ghanaians believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, according to the latest Afrobarometer survey.
He, thus, called on Ghanaians to ensure that the country corrects it’s path by voting for the NDC come December 7, 2024.
"Change needs Ghana because in the last Afrobarometer survey, more than 80% said Ghana is going in the wrong direction. If you are driving and you see yourself going in the wrong direction, you change your course," he said.
Thousands of Ghanaians from all over the country gathered at Jubilee Park to hear what the party's leadership will say.
The party's flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, took centre stage at the event.
Other top officials including National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and members of the Council of Elders addressed the gathering.
NDC Members of Parliament and parliamentary candidates are also in attendance.
