The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu has said the Northern region will, in the near future, become one of the strongholds of the NPP as he has succeeded in breaking the dominance of its main opponent, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region.

He said the performance of the NPP in the last election is a clear indication that it is fast gaining grounds in the region.

The NPP captured three additional seats from the NDC in the 2016 elections, bringing the total number of seats to 13 for the ruling party

This is the best performance of the party in the region since 1992.

This Mr Naabu, who is seeking reelection, attributed the success of the party to his efforts as chairman of the party in the region.

Speaking to Blessed Eduamoah Dadzie on Wake up Tamale on Radio Tamale 91.7FM, Mr Naabu said the NPP is now very attractive in the region that many people now rush to obtain its membership cards.

“A lot has changed [in the NPP] because we used to beg people to join the party, but today people who are rushing to get our [membership] cards are uncountable. This is because I’ve sold the good message of the party to every nook and cranny of the Northern region. There was not a single village in the region I did not go to campaign for the party,” he explained.

The regional chairman pledged to secure more jobs and loans for the youth of the party if he is reelected in the upcoming regional elections.

“I wish to thank all our party members and remind everyone that I’m presenting myself again to be elected as the regional chairman. Give me the mandate again and let’s work to secure victory for the party in 2020. I promise that those who have not yet secured jobs will be given jobs. MASLOC will soon begin work. Anyone who needs a loan expand their business will be given,” he pledged.
