The Member of Parliament of Suame constituency, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has stated that it is too late for the Founder of the Movement for Change, John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, to return to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking on Alan Kyerematen's breakaway from the NPP, the Suame lawmaker observed that his agenda is not worth pursuing as he cannot constitute a cabinet in the unlikely event he even wins the 2024 polls.

“It is not too late as humans are amenable to change. I will encourage him and those talking to him behind the scenes to reconsider returning to his mother’s party, which is the NPP,” he urged.

According to him, Alan’s return to the NPP will be good for democracy and the party.

“His return will be good for the democracy of this country, it will be good for the NPP, and it will also be good for our national politics. Where we have reached, we should admit that by the imperatives of the constitution, the directive principles of state policy define the overarching state policy of this country.

"That directive of state policy is the reason we don’t have extreme parties in Ghana. You must buy into it since the constitution maintains the engine of growth is the private sector,” he explained, adding that if it is possible, Alan should return to support the democracy of the country.
