Private legal practitioner Abraham Amaliba has said that the apology by the Northern regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, over claims that some appointees of the Akufo-Addo government masterminded the death of Adams Mahama does not end the matter.

For him, the apology does not shield Mr Naabu and the law enforcement agency in Ghana must pick up Mr Naabu because his comments were in relation to a murder.

Mr Naabu said his pronouncements were borne out of anger and provocation and did not have any evidence to back the claims.

But Mr Amaliba, in an interview with Emefa Apawu on Class FM’s 505 news programme on Thursday May 10, urged the family of the late Adams Mahama to petition the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take the matter up.

For him, “the (NPP) council is not an investigative body; we are talking about a crime and not politics”.

He said the “matter goes beyond the NPP and the good people of this country are interested”.

Mr Amaliba asserted: “It appears there are a set of rules for some people and rules for another group of people when they come to power.”

For him, it seems the apology was “masterminded by government to mitigate the impact and [is] only an afterthought”.
