The defeated Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Samia Nkrumah, has blamed her defeat on the influx of non residents into the constituency on election day.

Samia Nkrumah, who was the CPP’s only MP in the current Parliament, told Citi Fm though the act was not illegal, it was morally wrong.

“The influx of a great number of people who don’t have an affinity and a stake in the development of the district and just wanted to be transported back... but I’m talking about huge numbers. That, I think is not a good thing.”

She was quick to add that though “it is not illegal, is it morally right? Does that reflect the will of the people of Jomoro? People who are living there, working there and seeing what we have been doing for them?”

Ms Nkrumah further indicated, “nevertheless, we move on. We want peace and we want unity in all the country and not just in Jomoro so we are committed to make sure all our supporters are strong... so we will pick up the pieces and we are happy to do that.”
