Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has stated that politics is not about comfort but about being able to endure pain.
According to him, those who are able to endure the challenges of politics until the very end are the ones who emerge victorious in any political organization.
Speaking in an interview on Asaase Radio, excerpts of were sighted by GhanaWeb on July 14, 2026, Wontumi said such sacrifices include the commitment and dedication party members make in advancing the party's interests.
The NPP national chairmanship hopeful also disclosed that he is the only aspirant who has toured all 16 regions of the country as part of his campaign ahead of the party's national delegates congress.
"Politics is not for the comfort of people; it is for people who can endure pain and take advantage of it.

"As of now, among all those contesting for the National Chairman position of the NPP, I am the only person who has toured all 16 regions," he said.
Chairman Wontumi is currently on a nationwide campaign tour, soliciting support ahead of the upcoming NPP congress.
However, his campaign comes at a time when he is facing legal challenges, including a court case over allegations of corruption, illegal mining and the misappropriation of public funds.
