hope the people listen. The Presby church of Ghana have started this in thier own way in Ghana. to clamp down on unnecessary spending on the dead.

Go straight and talk to your party to wake up. The cedi has seen a nose dive these days and all these will culminate to further incraese in cost of living.

The worst part is that Funerals have become occasions to show off "wealth" and impress others. In many cases the deceased person never got any help while living. SUCH IS THE LEVEL OF HYPOCRISY AND WICKEDNESS IN OUR SOCIETY TODAY. The cost of funerals for a loved one ( a deceased father or mother, a sibling etc ) can quickly go through the roof as unscrupulous and heartless relatives use the occasion to inflate costs in order to rip off those bearing the costs. RELATIVES WHO ARE MOST LIKELY TO FALL VICTIM TO SUCH EXPLOITATION ARE THOSE LIVING ABROAD. The emotionally charged atmosphere during these period of deep grieving make people much more susceptible to such cruel acts of dishonesty.

Why should you worry about a practice that is not using your money or breaking the law? So what will this fake opinion leader advocate next, the banning of the purchase of luxury vehicles, the building of expensive homes? Those expenses may be overboard, but who is to say how some should perform their weddings or funerals? If you can state how such practice id=s negatively impacting society or the economy, then there's no reason for wanting to see these weddings and funerals regulated further. It may be a show of wealth, but that is not something that needs to be regulated. Will you also advocate that chiefs be guided by the same rules on how much they spend on their cultural events, just because some chiefs are able to outspend others?

It should be right of individuals to spend their money the way they choose to. You don't legislate how these folks get or work for their money, so why legislate how they can spend that money? If people choose to buy expensive cars, that's their prerogative; should they choose to buy expensive homes, that's also their prerogative; and their spending lavishly on funerals may seem wasteful to others, but that should be no cause to dictate on how they can spend their money on funerals. That lavish spending on funerals and weddings isn't negatively impacting on Ghana's economy, so why not leave them alone to do as they please with their money as they're not breaking any law? Cry instead about wasteful spending in government.

Death is a natural phenomenon and funeral celebrations have been an integral part of our culture and society to give the dead a befitting burial and this is cultural specific; every society has a unique way of performing funerals.Therefore, any opinin associated with funeral celebrations, is worth discussing. The North is gradually incorporating part of the Southern culture into ours especially in funeral celebrations and this is not only killing our cultural heritage but also dwindling our already limited resources. Funeral celebrations, no doubt has become too expensive lately considering the funfair that take more precedent than really mourning the dead. We have only copied their extravagant expenses but have not learnt the donation aspect that the Southern parts do leading to chunk of debt, and additional agony on the bereaved families. Well said, Mr. Agambila and I will urge you talk more on this topic for the awareness to go down our people.
