  The notion of stabilizing the slopes of the Kiteezi landfill and then capping it is an absurd prelude to turning it into a recreational area. Capping it will capture dangerous methane at some point, but it will not resolve the dangerous wastewater (leachate) that will continue to flow from the site poisoning people, crops and animals proximate to and downstream from the site. One report cites the process of eliminating the landfill will take 6 months, which is likewise absurd. My firm attempted to address this site for almost 6 years with corruption being the only constant and now this.
