File photo: The fisherman's boat was found empty by a rescue team
A fisherman is feared dead on the Afram River in the Eastern Region after Tuesday’s downpour in the area and most parts of the country.
The father of two, identified only as Eric from Nketepa, a fishing Community in Kwahu South District was caught up in the rainstorm while fishing on the river at about 8:00 am.
The fisherman is suspected to have drowned after his boat keeled over by the storm.
His boat and fishing net were later found unoccupied floating on the river by a rescue team which has since been searching for their missing colleague.
Assembly Member for the area, Yaw Bossu told Starr News that the search team is continuing their search efforts as of this morning.
“We got information from a neighbouring Community that an empty boat was found floating on the river and that a fisherman from our community was caught up in the Rainstorm yesterday morning around 8:00 am. So we went searching for him but it wasn’t successful so the team is continuing this morning”.
