Kwadjo Owusu Bempah, an aspiring NPP Constituency Chairman for Nhyiaeso
Kwadjo Owusu Bempah, an aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Nhyiaeso, has urged members of the Asona Clan across Ghana to support the party's flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking to the media after filing his nomination forms at the party's constituency office, Bempah argued that Dr Bawumia shares ancestral and symbolic ties with the Asona Clan, making it a cultural and national responsibility for clan members to support his leadership.
As Ghana approaches future electoral contests, Bempah noted that the Asona Clan, one of the largest and most influential matrilineal clans among the Akan people, continues to play a significant role in the country's socio-political landscape.
"Any Asona Clan member who fails to vote for Dr Bawumia could be viewed as undermining the nation's progress," Bempah stated.
"To reject him would be to deny Ghana access to one of its finest human resources, an act that borders on political self-sabotage," he added.
Drawing on Akan tradition, Bempah said the Asona Clan, symbolised by the crow, is historically associated with wisdom, diplomacy, intelligence and strong leadership.
According to him, Dr Bawumia embodies these qualities through his contributions to Ghana's economic management and digitalisation agenda.
"Dr Bawumia represents the very best of the Asona spirit," he stressed. "He possesses the distinct qualities that set our clan apart, making him uniquely qualified to lead Ghana into a prosperous future."
Bempah, a royal from Boadi and Goaso and a member of the Hoahi Royal Family of the Asona Clan, also highlighted his contributions to the Nhyiaeso Constituency over the years.
He said he has supported the party's activities through the donation of three Toyota Corolla vehicles and a Nissan pickup truck to aid mobilisation and campaign logistics.
He also cited the construction of mechanised boreholes in underserved communities and the ongoing development of a modern Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre.
According to him, the ICT facility will be named in honour of the late Nhyiaeso Constituency Chairman, George Kofi Agyei, popularly known as "GeoKad."
Outlining his vision for the constituency, Mr Bempah said he intends to transform Nhyiaeso into a self-sustaining socio-political hub through youth empowerment initiatives and welfare programmes for the elderly.
He pointed to a recent Mother's Day outreach programme organised by his team, during which more than 600 constituents received wax prints, financial support and other livelihood assistance.
"Our goal is to make Nhyiaeso a model constituency," he said. "A place where the welfare of every constituent is prioritised, where healthcare and education are accessible to all, and where our youth are empowered to become self-reliant."
