Go to Ghana Minerals Commission and check on their records how much mining companies spend in importation of Caustic Soda for mineral processing which is from common salt so you think.

You rather need to go back and read well the distorted history championed by Prof. Adu Boahen. Ghana has evolved beyond tribalistic tendencies and those who still live in the stone age behavior should bury their heads in the sand. Long live Ghana and not tribes.

I am surprised you have no idea the geological formation of Ghana and quickly jump the gun to say there are no minerals in Volta Region. Maybe you are only used to the traditional minerals like gold, diamonds, manganese, bauxite as the only minerals in Ghana. For your information, Volta Region is endowed with minerals and until the UN lifts the trusteeship to UK, they cannot be mined and t hat is why you think there are no minerals there. Once that is than, you will receive the shock of your life

Much as investment in needed in Ghana in other areas apart from oil, one has to be cautious. Just take a look at what illegal mining in gold and other minerals has done to the country 'galamsey'. Our rivers have become polluted, our landscape destroyed. If this embargo is lifted, what will become of those lands knowing very well that there are no procedures in place to protect the environment. A quick reminder of what galamsey has done to villages in our country, should this embargo be lifted, rules and regulations regarding the mining of these minerals will not be observed and in the end, we are going to see desolation of our beautiful landscapes.
