You awarded a contract to somebody, he did do it and then you let him go scot free. This is Africa for you. When a country has useless leaders this is what happens

  Considerable amount of gold is uplifted from Ahafo Kenyasi No. 2, by Newmont but not a single one of the three roads in and out of the town is paved. One cannot blame Newmont since they pay their taxes and royalties every year to the government and no government official seems to be interested in constructing the roads to the town where most of Ghana's gold is currently being uplifted. Moreover, the town and it surrounding villages still produce cocoa for export and food for the country. During every election promises are made about the paving of the roads but all to no avail. Fair system of fund allocation for projects should be adopted in Ghana where a fair consideration is given to communities which contribute markedly to the national treasury.

  Ghana will never learn from previous mistakes. Asphalting the road will bring durability and robustness. This double coating they are talking about is like applying the bitumen twice with a thin coat of gravels which wears out within months. DONT WASTE OUR TAXES!!!

  I have always maintained that that stretch of road is the worst in the country, and I challenge anyone to drive on that road and draw a comparison. But why stop at Asamankese? It is a trunk road that extends to Kade, through Akwatia. In the sixties and seventies, it always took me 1hr 30mins to drive from Accra to Kade, a distance of 72 miles. It now takes me a whole THREE hours to do the same trip, due to the condition of the road.

I have not visited old folks at Asamankese for a long time now because of the nature of the road. Why the neglect? I believe it is the sharp division between NDC and NPP in the West Akim area. NDC govt neglected it because does not have the "full" support and NPP did same. I wonder if what we are reading now is not just hot air.
