Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has urged his charges to go the extra mile to qualify Ghana to their third successive World Cup to be hosted in Brazil.

Appiah’s men have an uphill task in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup with two cagey away games against Sudan and Lesotho on June 7 and 16 respectively.

Ghana beat Sudan 4-0 in the first leg of the qualify at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi earlier this year and head coach Appiah says a World Cup qualification slot is enough motivation for the team to strive for a place in Brazil 2014.

“Back in March, we knew what was awaiting us - when the first leg of the qualifiers came to end,” Appiah told the Ghana FA website.

“With the major leagues in Europe where the majority of my players play having come to an end, I expected some tired legs and burn outs. But we have to ensure that we work with them and get them ready.

“But nobody can question the efforts of my players. I am really happy with their efforts. We will be working hard until the end. We are preparing for two extremely difficult encounters which we need to give more than hundred percent to get results.”

Appiah added: “However, to play at the World Cup should provide enough motivation for us to approach these games in the right frame of mind.”

The Black Stars is expected to depart to Ethiopia on Thursday for camping where they will be camping until 5th June when they arrive in Khartoum for the Sudan game.

Zambia lead Group D with seven points followed by Ghana with six points leaving Sudan and Lesotho with a point each.
