Vincent Enyeama has been voted as Nigeria’s best player at the World Cup thanks to his goalkeeping heroics.
The Super Eagles shot-stopper was a rock at the back for much of the tournament and, despite his error allowing France to score their first goal in Monday’s last-16 clash which eliminated Stephen Keshi’s men, he has been nominated as the cream of the crop in Brazil this summer with nearly half of the 9248 votes.
Ahmed Musa came second thanks to his brilliant double against Argentina in the group stage, coming close to stealing the show from Lionel Messi as Nigeria marginally lost 3-1.
Peter Odemwingie’s key strike against Bosnia-Herzegovina – which was the reason they escaped from Group F into the knockout stage – earned him nearly 1000 votes.
Ogenyi Onazi came fourth in the Nigeria poll with four per cent of the tally, Kenneth Omeruo’s defensive efforts saw him pick up 198 votes and left-back Juwon Oshaniwa rounded out the results.
