Defender Daniel Opare picked up an injury at the end of Ghana’s training session on Thursday which could force him out of the 2014 World Cup game against Germany on Saturday.

The 23-year-old hobbled off the pitch with the help of Black Stars team doctor Baba Adamu after the afternoon’s session at the Rei Pele Stadium in Maceio.

The Standard Liege fullback may require an MRI scan to determine the extent of damage done on his right leg.

Opare sustained the injury in the dying minutes of the training session after a collision with goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.

He now faces a real possibility of sitting out Saturday’s game against Germany in Fortaleza.

Opare is also at risk of missing the remainder of the tournament with a thorough assessment yet to be done on the injury setback.

The former Real Madrid youngster lasted the entire duration of Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to the United States of America in their opening Group G game at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The defeat leaves the Black Stars in desperate need of points in their remaining two games against Germany and Portugal in order to progress further in the competition.
