Hundred of locals braved a heavy down pour to welcome the Black Stars of Ghana to their World Cup base in Maceio.
Waving Ghana flags, blowing vuvuzelas and wielding placards with "Akwaaba" inscriptions, the fans sang and danced away a three hour delay from the team amidst tight security at the Radisson Hotel.
A high powered delegation from the provincial government including the governor and the mayor of Alagoas were all present to welcome the team.
The players including the injured Abdul Majeed Waris and their augmented technical team quickly moved into their quarters where a private meeting was organised between the Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and the host delegation.
The team will hold it's first training session on Thursday ahead of the opening game on June 16 against the USA in Natal. <
