Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dr Benjamin Agordzo is still in police custody 48hrs after an Accra High Court ordered his immediate release on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, according to reports.

Our checks revealed that the police administration has failed to make available the necessary documentations to conclude the formalities for ACP Agordzo to reunite with his family.

After repeated bail applications by his lawyers, the court presided over by Justice Charles Ekow Baiden on Tuesday admitted the police officer, who has been charged with abetment to commit treason to a self-recognizance bail of GHC500,000.

ACP Agordzo was also instructed to submit his passport to the Registrar of the High Court.

He will also be required to present himself to the Inspector General of Police and the Director of BNI per the schedule presented in the ruling of the Court.

ACP Benjamin Agordzo is one of ten persons charged for an attempted coup aimed at overthrowing the Akufo-Addo administration.

He was arrested on Monday, November 4, 2019.
