Accra, Feb. 11, GNA - The Accra District Council of Labour of Trades Union Congress (ADCL) on Thursday said it supported the decision of the Ghana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) Leadership to eject Industrial and Commercial Union (ICU) from its premises.

A statement signed by Mr S. V. Torsoo, Acting Secretary, said members of the ADCL met to adopt a resolution on the ICU's continued stay at the Hall of Trades Unions and the Government's Petroleum Deregulation Policy.

It said it considered ICU's stay in the premises as a security threat adding that without further delay the ICU should vacate the Hall by February 22, 2005.

"Failure to do so the ADCL will advise itself on the next line of action to take."

On petroleum deregulation policy, the Council noted what it termed the negative effect that it would bring to the majority of Ghanaians when implemented at one go.

It, therefore, appealed to the Government to be cautious in the implementation process. The Council added its voice to the TUC demand on Government to institute structures that would counter balance the social impact of petroleum deregulation on working people and the vulnerable in society.
