Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu, a Senior Policy Advisor to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is engaged in a fight with the Ghana Prisons Service (GPS) over prime land located in Roman Ridge in Accra, court documents have shown.
The documents were shared by North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on his social media handles.
The lawmaker, who has been campaigning against land grabs and what he terms state capture has recently posted about how state lands were being claimed by politically exposed persons.
Per the documents shared, Prof. Appiah-Adu secured a judgment in the High Court against the state for some land that historically belongs to the GPS.
The state through the Attorney-General's Department has since filed an appeal to the judgment with the view to reverse the earlier decision and other reliefs as the Court of Appeal may deem fit.
This is the second time Ablakwa is taking aim at the Vice President's aide. Weeks back Ablakwa revealed that Appiah-Adu, current Board Chairman of La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, was involved in moves to sell state pension's outfit, SNNIT's majority shares in the hotel to Rock City Hotel Limited, owned by the current agric minister.

Vice President Bawumia’s Senior Policy Advisor and Board Chair of La Palm Royal Beach Resort, Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu, apparently isn’t only responsible for running down La Palm and offering it for sale to his colleague in government, he now claims to own portions of prime land belonging to the Ghana Prisons Service at Roman Ridge.
The Vice President’s top advisor has dragged the helpless Ghana Prisons Service to court demanding that they stop preventing him from enjoying his acquisition.
In a show of vice-presidential power, Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu used national security operatives to demolish a fence constructed by the Ghana Prisons Service to secure their land which was allocated to the service since 28th June, 1950.
The showdown continues in court with the Prisons Service and the Attorney General’s Department attempting to stop the all-powerful Bawumia advisor as they pursue an appeal.

I commend former President Mahama for assuring the nation that when he assumes the presidency on January 7, 2025 there will be major investigations and repossession of our looted lands.
For now, we can only make a sacred pledge to escalate our uncompromising agitations and resistance against these lootocratic schemes both within and outside Parliament.
