Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, has expressed satisfaction at the suspension of the party’s National Chairman Paul Afoko.
According to him, the decision to suspend Afoko by the National Executive Committee of the NPP will ensure discipline within the rank and file of the elephant family.
Speaking to Fifi Banson on Kasapa FM Tuesday, Sir John challenged the suspended chairman and the party’s general secretary Kwabena Agyepong to prove their good intentions for the party through their actions and not by words.
“Why do you want to destroy the party; why should a whole chairman flout orders of the party. It is in the best interest of the party that the leaders have taken such decisions, and we must all ensure we go by their decision. Paul is a very good man. I know him, but it is sad those behind him are destroying him gradually,” he stated.
Afoko, who was suspended some three weeks ago, has formally petitioned the national council of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition over the action. He has hinted he will proceed to the court if that is what it will take to seek justice in the matter.
