Former Ghana international John Paintsil has made a dumbfounding revelation about his former Club Berekum Arsenal.

The ex-West Ham defender has singled himself as the motivating factor to form the former Ghana Premier League side (Berekum Arsenal).

Paintsil started off his professional career with the Berekum-based side before joining Liberty Professionals.

The 36-year-old FIFA World Cup quarterfinalist in an interview on KWESE TV says he was the main reason Berekum Arsenal was formed.

“I used to play with friends back in Koforidua but we had to move to Berekum because my Dad who was a policeman had to be transferred,” he said.

“I once went to the field to play with some area guys around and I did very well, they liked me but then I had to go back to school because I was schooling at New Juaben.

“That was when Berekum Arsenal was formed, so Berekum Arsenal was formed because of me, there was no Berekum Arsenal then.

The right-back who until recently worked as an assistant Coach for South African Club Kaizar Chiefs represented Ghana at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups in Germany and South Africa.

He also played at the 2001 FIFA U20 World Cup with the Black Satellites where they team finished runners-up in the competition.
