A report from Tema Central Royal School JHS indicates that residents are resisting an attempt by Electoral Commission officials to transport a ballot box in a taxi to the collation centre without the supervision of any security officer.

This incident occurred after a sudden power outage minutes after counting began after the close of polls.

In a video shared by Metro TV, residents and electoral officials are seen engaging in a heated exchange over the incident.

The video was accompanied by the caption: "Confusion at TEMA Central Royal School JHS as residents resist an attempt by EC officials to transport a ballot box in a taxi to the collation centre without the supervision of any security officer after power suddenly went off minutes after counting."

Counting and results declaration are underway following the closure of polls at 5pm across most of the polling centres in the country.

The 2024 elections took place across 276 constituencies in the country, with the process being largely peaceful.

Pockets of violence have, however, been recorded, with one person confirmed dead in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region.

The EC has meanwhile urged Ghanaians and political parties to exercise patience as they execute their mandate of delivering successful elections.
