Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr is claiming per video evidence in the hands of security agencies, the suspects of the alleged coup plot were planning on kidnapping President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Kweku Baako who has had the privilege of watching the surveillance videos said the suspects can be seen manufacturing weapons they can use to achieve their purpose.

“They talk of exploding these things…They contemplated on how to kidnap Akufo-Addo and Bawumia and take over the state and manage the country. In my view, this is not one of the fakes. There has been fakes before but this is not one of them…” he revealed during a panel discussion on Joy News file programme, Saturday.

Charges

So far the three suspects who have been arrested appeared in court and were charged with conspiracy to commit crime as well as illegally manufacturing firearms and explosives.

Many critics are wondering why the government is throwing in a coup plot yet the charges are stating something different.

In reaction, Kweku Baako said: “I will be disappointed if charges of treason are not preferred subsequently with what we are going through because of what I know and what I’ve seen; it will not be in the national interest. Let the court decide whether they are guilty or not guilty but the evidence available to the state eventually; and it should be sooner than later be put before the court”

Background

Government announced a planned attack on the Jubilee House was detected and foiled by a combined team of CID and BNI operatives some few days ago.
