The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dan Botwe has described the NDC ''March for Survival'' demonstration as a mere cover up to turn people’s attention from cracks in the party. Dan Botwe told JOY FM that the claim by the NDC that it is demonstrating against harsh economic policies and the political situation in the country is untenable.
He says the opposition party knows very well the harm its administration caused the country, and so the survival march is only a means to divert public attention and to blame the NPP unduly.
''We know we are genuine democrats and we cannot take anything from the NDC. If they want to go on demonstration, it is their constitutional right, they can do it. But so far as we are concerned, it is a demonstration of shamelessness''.
''I mean you do not mess up the country and in the aftermath of the Quality Grain trial when Ghanaians have seen tapes of a Ghanaian woman who has duped the country with the support of the ex-President of this country and his ministers ...In the case of Victor Selormey, after sending millions of dollars outside the country when Ghanaians cannot get good drinking water. One borehole costs 50 million cedis".
"Divide the $1.2 million by 50 million cedis and you will see the number of boreholes that ordinary Ghanaians who are living in, I mean very bad communities could have got. In the midst of all these things you want to go on demonstration and blame the government for the state of economy, when government has taken effective and bold decisions to turn the economy round'', he lamented.
Dan Botwe says his party’s recent parliamentary by-election victories are enough indication that Ghanaians have realized the economic prowess of the NPP and will not be misled by the NDC demonstration.
