The family of the 4-year old defiled girl at Assin Adadientem in the Central Region have fled the farming community on security grounds.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South Constituency, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour who facilitated their departure after the dastardly act by an 18-year-old said to be on the run revealed, it is for their own safety in the wake of renewed efforts by the security agencies to apprehend the suspect.

The four-year-old was on October 13, 2017 defiled the suspect only identified as Kwabena who absconded after the act.

According to a medical report after thorough examination, the hymen of the victim is intact with no evidence of bleeding but she is said to be in serious pain and still under the lenses of health professionals.

What however appears to have triggered wide condemnation was the fact that the matter was first lodged with the chief of the community who claims after consultation with his gods the accused was innocent.

The Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu directed his men to take over the matter and hunt for the suspect to face full rigors of the law.

To this end, the security agencies on Friday, stepped up efforts in the area by inviting the embattled chief of the village, Nana Aboboyaa otherwise known as John Mensah, who is also a cousin to the teenage suspect to assist in the investigations.

The lawmaker who visited the victim promised to shoulder all medical bills but decided in the interim to relocate them to a different area for their own safety until investigations are duly completed.

“We have been very worried when the issue came up but since the victim and her parents are still staying at the suspect’s house, it will be prudent that they’re moved from the house to ensure their security as the police have taken over the issue” he told Accra-based Adom FM.
