A Ghanaian Hajj pilgrim by name Hajia Hasiyatu Rufai has delivered a baby boy at the end of the Islamic rite in Mecca.

Hajia Rufai, who hails from Kotokuraba-TUC in Cape Coast, delivered the boy – her fifth born – without any complications.

A deputy head of the Ghana Medical Team, Dr Osman, is said to have dissuaded the mother of the baby from embarking on the pilgrimage back in Accra.

She is however said to have assured that her doctors predicted a late delivery, in October, by which time she would have returned from the pilgrimage. Dr Osman was grateful to Allah for the safe delivery but advised pregnant women against embarking on the pilgrimage.

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has assured of optimal care for the baby and mother up till they return home.

Chairman of PAOG Alhaji Abdul Rauf Tanko Ibrahim congratulated Hajia Rufai and her family for a safe delivery.
