Former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has said she will break the glass ceiling for women as far as running for president is concerned.
Mrs Rawlings has made history as the first female presidential candidate in Ghana.
She was cleared by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Wednesday to contest in this year's polls.
She was disqualified by the EC in 2012 when she first made an attempt.
Mrs Rawlings told Joy FM Wednesday night that she intends using the opportunity to pave the way for other women in Ghana to aspire to the highest office of the land.
