President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he will govern the country in a manner devoid of malice and without favour to anyone or group of persons whatsoever, but will draw wisdom from God to succeed in that regard.

“To those of us who he has appointed to guide the affairs of our country I seek from Him the almighty wisdom, strength, compassion and courage to do the right thing to all manner of peoples in Ghana without ill-will or malice and without favour to anyone,” he said Friday.

Addressing a group of Muslims and their clergy after Muslim prayers Friday at the Central Mosque in Accra in commemoration of Ghana’s 60 years, the president reiterated the need for Ghanaians to unite for nation building irrespective of their creed or religious beliefs.

He told the people to “stay as one” although we are “different peoples, [with] different religions, different beliefs” .

The president said he would be guided by the rule of law where human rights will be respected, adding “that is the vision of our founders and it is the vision that we have to continue to realize in our times.

“I pray that the almighty, not only continue to bless our nation but to continue to give us wisdom and strength,” he said. Nana Akufo-Addo thanked the Chief Imam for his leadership in our country, and expressed best wishes to that “he continues to live and help our country”.

The president urged muslims and the Chief Imam to pray for the Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia who is the head of the country’s economic team, in order for him to carrying out the herculean task of reviving Ghana’s economy.
