Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has indicated that decency has fled the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and that she’s happy the party is in opposition

According to her, things degenerated to the level where her husband, former president Jerry John Rawlings who is also the founder of the NDC has been disrespected.

In her estimation, the NPP government under president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is currently fixing the mess created by the erstwhile NDC administration under former president John Dramani Mahama and must be allowed the leeway to fix that mess.

Speaking on Joy FM , the president of the 31st December Women’s Movement opined that the NDC while in power lied to Ghanaians that the economy was doing well, adding that the party should give president Akufo Addo and his government some time and space to fix the mess they created in 8 years

She intimated that she left the NDC, founded by her husband Jerry John Rawlings to form the National Democratic Party (NDP) because “… I am somebody who believes in honesty and hard work. As things started changing I advised myself.”

“We reached that level where the respect for the founder was not there,” she cried out

According to her, she was happy to see the NDC party out of government in the last elections.

“I am happy there is a change… I am very happy…because you can’t have a situation where we claim to be doing well, calling ourselves lower-middle income group, and in a miserable situation,” she said.
