The first Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwame Baffoe has reacted to news of the suit filed by Tony Lithur for divorce from his wife Nana Oye Lithur with a stunning confession about Nana Oye.

According to Abronye, as Baffoe is popularly known, he has been secretly admiring Nana Oye and would not hesitate to take over from Tony Lithur after the divorce suit is settled.

“I have loved Oye Lithur for years. I pray her husband leaves her so I can occupy that position,” he stated.

Reports surfaced on Tuesday night that Tony Lithur had filed for divorce from Nana Oye after over 27 years of marriage.

In his petition sighted by YEN.com.gh, Mr Lithur cited many reasons why the two of them could not live together.

Key among them were Lithur's allegations that Nana Oye had been having affairs with two men and the fact that she exhibited cruel and violent behaviour towards other people especially, their house helps.

Speaking on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem morning show on Wednesday morning, Abronye who is not the least perturbed by the allegations against Nana Oye described her as "an outstanding human rights lawyer who champion the cause of others."

"I’m patiently waiting in my one corner. If her husband loses guard, I will snatch her,” he disclosed.

Abronye's confession could be described as a rare praise from the hard-hitting NPP man who is known for his regular criticisms of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its members.

Nana Oye Lithur served as the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection under former President John Mahama.

Her appointment as a minister in 2013 followed years of work as a human rights advocate was widely applauded as she was seen as a perfect fit for the job and Abronye seems to agree.

Tony Lithur's claims of her maltreating house helps, therefore, casts a big shadow on Nana Oye. The couple married customarily in 1991 and celebrated the marriage at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra in 1997. They have four kids together.
