The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has called on the new Majority Leader, James Agalga, to schedule him to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to respond to what he described as false allegations by the Minority in Parliament.

Speaking during the Government Accountability Series on August 19, 2026, Gyamfi said he was ready to face the committee even if Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo‑Markin delayed in summoning him.

“I have asked the new Majority Leader, James Agalga, to programme me to appear before the Public Accounts Committee to respond to these false claims by the NPP Minority even if he [Afenyo‑Markin] delays in hauling me,” Gyamfi stated.

Addressing issues that GoldBod incurred losses of about GH¢22 billion in 2025, Gyamfi dismissed the claim that the IMF had blamed the institution for the central bank’s financial challenges.

He therefore challenged Afenyo-Markin to produce evidence from the report he cited to support the alleged loss.

“I challenge Afenyo-Markin to point to any page, paragraph, sentence, phrase or even punctuation mark in the said IMF report where the GoldBod is accused by the IMF of being responsible for the losses incurred by the Bank of Ghana," he said.

The debate over GoldBod intensified after the Minority Leader accused the institution of recording losses of GH¢22 billion in one year through gold sales.

He warned that a future NPP government would impose stricter accountability measures, including higher bail conditions for their officials.
