Management Committee to ExCo: How GFA assesses Black Stars squad before announcement

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has begun the final processes leading to the announcement of Carlos Queiroz’s squad for the Black Stars’ upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Portuguese coach has submitted his selection, but the list must go through the GFA’s internal structures before it is officially made public.

According to GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum, the squad will first be considered by the Black Stars Management Committee before moving to the Executive Council, the association’s highest decision-making body.

“Coach Carlos Queiroz has submitted his squad for the upcoming games, and it is currently going through the required processes. It will first go before the Management Committee and then the Executive Council,” Henry Asante Twum said on Akoma FM.

2027 AFCON: GFA reveals when Black Stars squad will be announced

The process means Queiroz’s selection does not immediately become the official Black Stars squad once it is submitted by the head coach.

The Management Committee is responsible for overseeing the administrative and logistical affairs of the senior national team and serves as a link between the technical team and the GFA.

Its responsibilities include working with the head coach on team activities and ensuring the necessary arrangements are made for matches and tournaments.

After that stage, the list proceeds to the Executive Council for consideration before the GFA can formally announce the squad.

The process is being completed ahead of a crucial international window for Ghana, with the Black Stars preparing to begin their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

Ghana, drawn in Group C alongside Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia and Somalia, will travel to Bouaké to face Côte d’Ivoire on September 24, 2026, before hosting The Gambia in Accra days later.
