A reporter of Luv FM in Kumasi – a subsidiary of Multi Media – Erastus Asare Donkor, is in hot waters over an alleged unprofessional conduct.

The reporter is likely to be hauled to court for allegedly publishing palpable lies about the Education Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’.

Asare Donkor has been given a seven-day ultimatum to retract the said falsehood and also apologize to Napo, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South in Kumasi.

Court Action

New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in Manhyia South insist the Luv FM reporter intentionally published the false report to dent Napo’s hard won reputation.

Led by Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori-Atta, a former NPP organizer for Manhyia, the party members advised the reporter to retract the story to prevent a court action.

Asare Donkor on Saturday, reported on Joy FM’s flagship programme, ‘News File,’ that Napo has strong links with the Delta Force, a vigilante group in Kumasi.

He claimed that Napo used the group, which recently assaulted George Adjei, the Ashanti Regional Security Liaison Officer, to commit atrocities in 2012.

Asare Donkor said under the instruction of Napo, the Delta Force violently attacked one Mafius, a known NDC member, prior to the 2012 elections.

Setting Records Straight

Richard Adjei Mensah vehemently debunked the false report, insisting that Napo has nothing to do with the group.

According to him, the name of the Delta Force popped up when the 2016 elections were approaching, “So Asare Donkor’s story is palpable false.”

2012 Attacks

He explained that Napo, whilst embarking on a house-to-house campaign with his supporters at Ash Town in 2012, was attacked by Mafius and his men.

Mr Ofori-Atta stated that Mafius and his men – all NDC members – who were heavily armed, fired gunshots and luckily Napo and his supporters escaped.

A scuffle, he said, then ensued between the NPP and NDC members and the NPP members, who were plenty, eventually overpowered Mafius and his men.

He explained also that the attack by Mafius and his men was one of the ploys of the NDC to create tension at Manhyia and reduce NPP votes in the area.

According to him, during that time the Delta Force was not in existence “so I wonder why the reporter could still link them with Napo, who is innocent.”

“By his false report, one can say that he is either unprofessional or he just hates Napo and the NPP and came up with the false report to destroy him.”

Mr Ofori-Atta urged Asare Donkor to mention names of Napo’s so-called thugs who are now active members of the Delta Force, as he claimed in his “lies-packed story.”

Anger

Brimming with rage, he said the recent Delta Force issue has nothing to do with Napo, who has over the years proven to be a law-abiding citizen.

Ofori-Atta said the entire NPP members at Manhyia South are angry over Asare Donkor’s unprofessional work “so we will take him on in court.”

According to him, any negative reportage against Napo, who is their leader, automatically affects all NPP members at Manhyia South in Kumasi.

In this regard, Mr Ofori-Atta stated that the NPP members in the constituency would drag the reporter to court if he failed to retract the story and apologize to Napo.

Meanwhile, reports making the rounds indicate that Mafius and his stoutly-built men were sponsored by a former Cocobod chief prior to the 2012 polls.

The group was allegedly tasked to create confusion at Manhyia South, which is a predominantly NPP area, during the 2012 electioneering campaign.
