President Mahama removes Brogya Genfi in second major reshuffle

President John Dramani Mahama has made a second major reshuffle to his government, following the changes he made on August 8, 2026.

The President, in his second reshuffle, has reassigned Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo from the Ministry of Labour and Employment and Job Creation to the Ministry of State for Special Initiatives.

The President has appointed Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South, as the new Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation.

The President has also reassigned Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, to be a Presidential Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.

"President John Dramani Mahama has made the following changes to his Government. Hon. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo has been reassigned as Minister of State for Special Initiatives, while Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum replaces him as Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation.

"The President has also reassigned Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Ernest Brogya Genfi, as a Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness. The reassignments take immediate effect," a statement issued by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, read.

In his first reshuffle, the President nominated Mahama Ayariga and Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs designate and Minister of Environment, Science and Technology designate, respectively.

He also reassigned Ahmed Ibrahim from the Local Government Ministry to Works, Housing and Water Resources, while Kenneth Gilbert Adjei was moved from the Works and Housing Ministry to the Ministry of Defence.
