Executive Director for The Ark Foundation, Angela Dwamena Aboagye has admonished all women to reject the assertion that they are their own worst enemies and disprove it also through their actions; by supporting their fellow women in the race to succeed.
“We must reject the tag that society gives to us women, suggesting that we don’t like to see each other prosper, that we necessarily have to pull others down when we see them climbing just so we are on the same scale, that we are our own enemies,…if someone tells you that, say you reject it in the name of Jesus I’m not any woman’s worst enemy’’ she said.
While speaking at the International Women’s Day Symposium in Accra, Mrs Dwamena stressed on the importance of promoting justice in our society such that men and women are offered opportunities and freedom alike. She noted that society over time has tagged women in a certain light, mostly negative, a notion that must change beginning with the Christian woman.
“We don’t judge people by the color of their skin but by who they are inside and what they do for society, that’s the same way we talk about women and men, we want to wake up to a time when we won’t judge people because they are women or men…..Women are always like this, whenever you see women together, they are always gossiping, what at all can a woman do?, we don’t want to see or hear any of those anymore…..we want to see men and women together the way we were created. These are the issues of justice, how far are we prepared to go with these issues of justice?”. She called on women to obey the call of justice and mercy and also encouraged women to network.
‘’Let it not be said of us that we don’t support each other and let us obey the call to justice and mercy, let us pray that the lord will give us the courage’’.
The International Women’s Day Symposium at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Hall, Osu was organised to mark the International Women’s Day which occurred one the 8th April 2017 with focus on the theme: ‘’Press for Progress – Role of the Christian Woman’’
