The Progressive Peoples’ Party (PPP) has said it feels embarrassed when it compares Ghana to countries like Malaysia and Singapore.

Ghana and Malaysia were colonised by the British, attained independence in 1957 and started afresh with virtually the same rich natural and human resources, but the latter is doing better in terms of development than the former.

History indicates also that, Ghana and Singapore were all third world countries in the 1960s started developing but Singapore has moved far ahead leaving Ghana behind in terms of development.

At a press conference organised by the Ashanti Regional branch of the PPP on Saturday, [November 5, 2016] , parliamentary candidate of the party at the Manhyia North constituency, Nana Abena Amponsah Biritwum said they “look at Malaysia, Singapore etc. and bow our head in shame because the NDC have failed to think outside the box to make our country great and strong again.”

According to her, all the NDC does is to get on stage and “insult competition and the wanton dissipation of bravado in sheer ignorance. When they realised that Ghanaians are awakening for change, they have tagged voting PPP as wasted votes.”

She called on voters to ignore assertions that a vote for the PPP is a wasted vote and vote for them because “a vote for the PPP is a vote for growth and development in a peaceful environment. A vote for the PPP is liberation from the economic and mental slavery the NDC government have subjected us to in the last eight years.”

She further stated that a “vote for the PPP is the rebirth of a new Ghana where individuals can freely create wealth for themselves and our motherland.”

She said a PPP government will strive to the best of its ability to help resolve the problem of unemployment in the region and the country at large if given the nod.

Maa Abena as affectionately called by constituents said “consistently voting for these two parties [NPP and NDC] will take our beloved country further down into the stone age because Ghana under these two parties have failed to rub shoulders with her peers in the diaspora.”

She ended by admonishing the people of Ashanti region to wake up because “enough is enough people”.

“Let’s fight for prosperity in peace and restore our lost glory. Charlotte Osei can send us anywhere but we shall make it and make Asanteman great and strong again.” She added.
