For your information, even the constitution recognizes Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, Asantehene, as the only king in Ghana. This is the reason why some unscrupulous politicians are instigating some chiefs to rise against Otumfuo. But, let me tell you, if you don’t know, there are documents of all the agreements that were reached between Ashanti kingdom and the British that categorically states the supremacy of the Asantehene, whose kingdom, in those days, was bigger than present day Ghana. Also, you have to remember that Ashanti is older than Ghana. We had our constitution and had been a well organized kingdom even before the white man came to Ghana. Kumasi, one of the oldest and historical cities in West Africa has been the seat of our governance till today. The same tradition has continued from the 26th century till now with 16 successive Asantehene. This year, Ashanti is celebrating 150 years anniversary of the sir Garnett Woleseley war in 1874. This year also marks exactly hundred years when the exiled Asantehene Nana Agyeemang Prempeh from Seychelles. This also marks 25 years since Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll ascended the golden stool. The hatred towards Ashanti is going to be 1000 times more. But we’re not perturbed. I believe that, gradually, the rest of Ghana will push Ashanti to separate from Ghana and become a sovereign nation. Because almost all the tribes hate Ashantis simply because we’re proud of our heritage. You hate us but we love our forefathers and what they did for us. LONG LIVE ASHANTI.
