It does not appear the NDC is keen on invoking internal dispute resolution mechanisms to deal with outstanding issues. There is a difference between propaganda in theory and reality in pragmatism. I am happy the person calling for this is one of the beneficiaries of the PNDC scholarship schemes in Communist States like Cuba where she trained as a Veterinary Doctor. That in itself is an attestation of deliberate policies by the late Leader and Founder JJ Rawlings who was very much keen on building the human resource base of the Party. John Mahama himself and many others like Dr. Hannah Bissiw who now constitute the hierarchy of the Party were indeed beneficiaries of this program of political empowerment via human resource development by late Prez Rawlings . Unfortunately, that cannot be said of the current NDC Leadership of deliberately empowering the youth perhaps until recently. In fact, the current parliamentary primary elections saw the NDC opting for fine young scholars including many medical doctors to contest, huge paradigm shift of stifling the potential of such viable youth with immense talents. This is a good policy initiative by the Party which will effectively counterbalance the NPP strategy of always recruiting intellectuals or academicians into key party positions which in the past often pose problems for the NDC when it comes to party programs, policies and political strategy. The Upper West Region where I come from in the past had some old Party folks very much notorious for inhibiting the youth and in fact scheme to destroy so many upcoming young intellectuals, some of whom unfortunately died because of political persecution and oppressive brutalities against them. The current Speaker of Parliament Mr. Alban Bagbin who himself was a direct beneficiary of late Prez Rawlings deliberate policy of educational and political empowerment is very much notorious for targeted witch-hunting, political persecution and destruction of youth with immense potential. He comes after you full force and will never rest on his oasis until you are completely annihilated. Even the person who introduced him to late Prez Rawlings and the Party Dr. Debaga had his fair share of evil schemes of destruction and tyranny by Alban Bagbin who in my opinion is not just somebody who is self-centered, full of self-aggrandizement but also morbidly jealous, particularly of the youth, especially intellectuals. His problem with Dr. Francis Ibrahim which is currently pending before the Human Rights Court is well known. This is somebody the Speaker is even related to but authorized his dismissal in 2012 as then Health Minister as at the time he was in fact benefitting from the Doctor's family lands he was using for his commercial farming. Mr. Bagbin continues to use his power, money, stature and connections to torment this young doctor who did absolutely nothing to him. In fact, the doctor is a Cadre. His dismissal was painfully and regrettably under the NDC Government of John Mahama with Alban Babgin as the Health Minister who misled everyone into believing that it was an order from the Presidency in 2012 when he was actually the one behind it. It is always extremely difficult to talk about unity with some of these barbaric and inhuman tendencies by old folks like Mr. Bagbin towards the youth. Politics can be put to good use depending on the caliber of persons in leadership. However, if young intellectuals like Dr. Bissiw and others are given the opportunity, a lot more academics will rope in to richly enhance the human resource potential of the Party. When that happens, it becomes very difficult for selfish and greedy old folks to hold the Party hostage by manipulating and controlling less educated persons for their personal gain and using same to engage in malicious propaganda targeting perceived opponents, real or imaginary. It also enhances party pluralism and dialogue because the Party fate will not be left in the hands of few with financial resources and educational qualification to dictate affairs mostly for their personal agenda, not Party or National interest transmitted through Party ideology. The Party leadership should begin some soul searching especially for aggrieved persons that have genuinely been extremely unfair to, even if it means engaging the likes of Anyidoho and Allotey Jacobs. Afer all, politics is a game of numbers and the humility to accept fault is the bedrock of true leadership that will promote the unity of purpose.
