Is ghanaweb talking for the students or it indeed it did the interview ? Because it makes those who are against the policy like they are not clitical thinkers or do not understand basic English language because he did not say he is going to cancel it so therefore those who think they need experience before can choose to do so and those who think they can walk straight to the job market too do so What is bad about this ? Techer traynings well not doing national service before by today is compousery for them so is it the case that some one can't go straight to the job market and some one can the one who can't is saying we should force the one who can to join him or her is that fair that is what we call in akan "abro ne bayiea"

The national service should be a thing of the past, we don’t need national service anymore in this modern society what we need is work placement and apprenticeship when the students is in college or university by the time he finishes he would have some job experience to start work. These days you don’t stay in college or university till you finish with no work experience. National service should be retained.
Bawumia’s idea could be modified so that firms which pick students right from graduation employ them as National Service equivalents for the first year. They should be required to complete a short module, designed and supplied by the NSS, in that year that takes up perhaps a week of their time.
Even better, scrap National Service in its current form and require students of public universities to be affiliated to districts for the duration of their course. It would require districts to provide evidence of preparedness to participate in the programme. This forum does not provide space for a detailed description of the process but the students would have completed their national service within the duration of the course.
