S o since there was no woman MP Dr Nkrumah could not appoint a woman Minister. To become a Republic, Dr Nkrumah passed a special law and 10 women MPS were elected. One of the wmem MPS, Mrs Susan Al Hassan was appointed a Minister of Social Welfare in 1965
