In any case, I believe he was a Fanti but lived in Akyem, most probably his father and a Fanti educationist, as they were those who were sent all over the Gold Coast as administrators/teachers/clerks.

I know many of the Sam's - from Cape Coast. One of them was my boss, a Mechanical Engineer, who worked for the ITG (International Tobacco, Ghana Ltd). the other was my course mate at university.
