At the recently held iYES Ghana 2026 programme, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder of Action Chapel International, shared an account of how he once intervened to stop one of his junior pastors from holding a crusade that would have clashed with Bishop Dag Heward-Mills’ fledgling Lighthouse Chapel International.

The Archbishop recounted that many years ago, one of his bishops organized a crusade near Korle-Bu, at the same time Bishop Heward-Mills had just begun his ministry at the hospital cafeteria.

Heward-Mills, visibly upset, approached Duncan-Williams to complain that the Action Chapel pastor was attempting to plant a branch in the same area where Lighthouse was starting.

“So, one day I was home and they said Bishop Dag wanted to see you and so he came and said Bishop what is it? He was very upset.

“He said Papa I don't like what this your bishop is doing…

“I called the bishop and said, what is wrong with you? he said, ‘I’m in charge of outreach, I can start a church anywhere. And I said, You can’t. Bishop Dag is my son. I’ve known him since Achimota Form Four. We have a very good relationship. I don’t want you to continue the crusade. Call it off,” Duncan-Williams narrated.

The Archbishop emphasised that his decision was rooted in the principle of protecting relationships within the body of Christ.

He drew parallels with Abraham’s choice to avoid strife with Lot, stressing that unity and respect among ministers were more important than territorial expansion.

He further revealed that his insistence on preserving peace extended beyond Ghana.
