A video has emerged online of a person in military apparel brutalising a man believed to be a financier of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asante Akyem South Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
The viral video captured a man believed to be the Deputy Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Ivan Bilson Yeboah, leading the soldier in the assault.
The Deputy Regional Security Coordinator is captured hitting the man’s leg with a handcuff as at least three soldiers pin him to the ground.
Ivan is heard hurling insults at the man as he was hitting him, and at one point asking, “Who gave you the mandate?”
The soldiers who had pinned the man to the ground managed to handcuff him, and after that, the coordinator asked them to put him in a vehicle.
The supposed financier can be seen being dragged on the ground and beaten by the soldiers, as he was resisting the arrest.
At one point, he is heard urging the onlookers to call the police. “Call the police for me,” he said in the Twi dialect.
It is not clear why the soldiers were attempting to arrest the supposed financier, but some of the onlookers could be heard saying that he was the one who moved a particular vehicle.
