None of the Black South Africans I met ever became a friend. I have eaten in the homes of non-Black South Africans, and they have visited me at home. I am sure that there are many nice and friendly Black South Africans out there, but I am yet to meet any.
The Black South Africans I met abroad seemed often to exude a faint air of hostility, victimhood and resentment.
I NOW AGREE WITH A BLACK FRIEND WHO VISITED SOUTH AFRICA A FEW YEARS AFTER APARTHEID ENDED WHO TOLD ME AT THAT WHAT HE THOUGHT OF BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS (AND I AM PARAPHRASING WHAT HE SAID): "Most Black South Africans ((he was speaking in the early 1990s) may be emancipated politically but psychologically and emotionally they are still "caged" because they have been so traumatised by years of abuse and oppression by Whites and it has left many with an abiding sense of injury , hostility and resentment toward others” and strangely enough mostly against Black Africans". I have since found his assessment fairly accurate. Just as my friend informed me many years ago, I can now say, based on personal experience confirm that it is far easier to deal with White South Africans than with Black ones.
