A 29-year-old Ghanaian man, Amponsah Thompson, has been sentenced to 23 years in prison in the United Kingdom after being convicted of multiple rape offences involving at least three victims.

Details of the case were shared in a post shared by liverpoolecho.co.uk on April 13, 2026.

According to the report, Thompson operated in Liverpool, where he allegedly prowled the streets at night in a white Mercedes, posing as a taxi driver to target vulnerable young women.

Prosecutors told the court that he lured teenage victims into his vehicle after nights out and subjected them to a series of sexual assaults.

The court heard that he showed “no regard for consent or boundaries” in carrying out the attacks.

In addition to the 23-year custodial sentence, the report said the court imposed a further eight years on license, meaning Thompson will remain under strict supervision after his release.

He has also been placed on the UK’s sex offenders register for life.
