The Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi has criticised government efforts to address ongoing power supply challenges, describing a planned timetable for transformer replacements as effectively a ‘dumsor timetable.’

Speaking at a press briefing on May 3, 2026, he said electricity supply remains a major concern across the country, with serious implications for industrial productivity and economic stability.

He pointed to remarks by the Minister of Energy earlier in the day, indicating that a schedule would soon be published for the replacement of faulty transformers.

According to him, such a move signals a return to erratic power supply rather than a solution to the problem.

“As I’m sure you are all aware, power supply remains a concern in many parts of the country with implications for industrial output,” he said.

He added that the proposed timetable does little to reassure businesses and households already grappling with inconsistent electricity.

“Just this morning, I saw that the energy minister says he’s going to publish the timetable for the replacement of transformers. That’s a dumsor timetable,” he indicated.

Oppong Nkrumah further dismissed the initiative, urging the public not to place confidence in the planned schedule.

“Don’t waste your time on the settings that they are coming up with,” he said.
